What Happens During a Free In-Home Evaluation (And Why There's No Sales Pitch)
The hardest part isn't the work. It's letting someone into the house.
Maybe it's your mother's house and she didn't exactly agree to this. Maybe it's your house and you're embarrassed about the spare room. Maybe you've read enough stories about people who prey on seniors that you're not inclined to open the door to anyone.
All of that is reasonable. So here is the whole thing, start to finish, so nothing about it is a surprise.
Before we arrive
You call (702) 439-2352 or book online. We ask three or four questions on the phone — roughly what kind of job, roughly how big, and whether there's a deadline like a discharge date or a closing.
We give you a window and we keep it. If we're running late, you get a call, not silence.
You don't need to clean up. We have seen every version of a house. The whole point of the visit is to see it as it actually is, because that's what we're pricing. Tidying up before we come only makes the estimate less accurate.
Who shows up
One person, in a marked shirt, with a business card. Not a crew, not a sales team, not someone who brings a second person to apply pressure.
We are licensed in Nevada, insured, and background-checked, and we'll show you documentation if you'd like to see it. If you'd rather have a neighbor, a daughter on speakerphone, or your care manager present, that's a good idea and we'll work around their schedule.
The twenty minutes
We walk the rooms with you. All of them, including the garage and the shed, which is where the surprises live. You point, we look. You don't have to open anything you don't want to open.
We ask about the goal, not the stuff. There's a difference between "we're selling the house in three weeks" and "she wants the second bedroom usable again." Those are different jobs with different prices, and we can't quote either one without knowing which it is.
We ask a handful of practical questions. What's staying. What's going to family. Whether anything needs to be sold. Whether there are items nobody has opened in years. Whether there's anything fragile, valuable, or sentimental that needs different handling. Whether anyone in the house has mobility limits we should plan around.
We look at the parts you don't think about. How wide the doorways are. Whether the truck can get close. Stairs. Whether there are appliances with refrigerant, paint, chemicals, or anything else with its own disposal rules. Whether the HOA has restrictions on dumpsters or work hours.
We do the arithmetic in front of you. Crew size, hours, disposal, at $30 an hour per person. You watch us build the number.
What you get
A firm price, in writing, before anything moves. It states the scope, the crew, the estimated hours, what disposal costs are passed through at cost, and what would change the number.
It's good for 30 days. There's no deposit to hold it.
What we will not do
This part matters more than the rest of it.
- We will not have opinions about what you keep. Not out loud, not with a look. It's your house and your life in it.
- We will not pressure you to book that day. Or that week. Families take months to be ready, and that's normal.
- We will not upsell you. If the job is smaller than you feared, we'll tell you it's smaller. If you can do half of it yourself and save money, we'll tell you which half.
- We will not go around you to a family member. If you're the one who lives there, you're the one we talk to.
- We will not charge you for the visit. Not if you book, not if you don't, not if you decide to hire somebody else.
If you have things ready, bring them
None of this is required, but it speeds things up:
- A rough list of what you want done, even if it's on the back of an envelope
- Access to the garage and any storage areas
- Your deadline, if you have one
- The name and number of whoever else needs to approve the decision
When the family is out of state
A large share of the seniors we work with in Henderson have children somewhere else. We do the walk-through by video call — someone local walks the phone through the house while you watch from Chicago or Seattle — and the written quote is in your inbox the same day.
We can also do the walk-through with your parent in person and send you the quote directly. We'll tell you plainly what we saw, including anything that concerned us.
Book it
No obligation, no sales pitch, no pressure to decide anything that day.
Call (702) 439-2352 or book a free walk-through. Henderson, Las Vegas and Boulder City, Monday through Saturday, 6:30am to 6:30pm.
